Breakfast

Breakfast is taken in the 17th century family dining room.

On the sideboard you will find a range of starters which generally include:

  • Fruit Juice (Tropicana "bitty" Orange or smooth Apple)

  • Yoghurt (generally organic)

  • A selection of cereals (including organic)

  • Fruit from the Fruit Bowl

  • Home-grown fruits in season

  • Fresh home-baked organic bread

We can also provide porridge, prunes, fruit segments and cheese.

We will make for you fresh:

  • Tea (Ordinary, Earl Grey or Herbal)

  • Coffee (Nescafe Gold Blend, Instant De-caffeinated or Medium Roast Filter)

  • Toast (using fresh home-baked organic bread)

We delight in preparing a sumptuous farmhouse AGA-cooked breakfast, which generally includes:

  • 2 Sausages

  • 2 rashers of Bacon

  • 2 Eggs

  • Baked Beans

  • Mushrooms

  • Grilled Tomato

We are happy to cook alternatives using these ingredients, such as scrambled eggs, bacon butties, mushrooms on toast, cheese on beans on toast etc - just tell us what you would prefer.

As well as traditional farmhouse cooking, we also offer sumptuous breakfasts for guests who prefer

  • vegetarian

  • vegan

  • gluten-free

  • and other special diets

You are welcome to collect and choose your eggs for breakfast from our own free range hens, as long as they are in lay!

Lunch

We are happy to provide packed lunches for a small additional charge if ordered the evening before. These generally include:

  • Sandwiches (choice of fillings) made with fresh home-baked bread (assuming you haven't eaten it all for breakfast!)

  • Yoghurt

  • Crisps

  • Fresh Fruit

Dinner

We are fortunate in having several excellent local places to dine in the evening. “The Barley Corn” is our local country pub, less than 2 minutes walk away, and serves a good variety of well-priced restaurant and bar meals. A wide range of alternatives from takeaways to top restaurants, lively bars to sleepy pubs, are only a short drive away. We would be pleased to guide you on the various options if you would like some advice.
